Customer Reviews:
Apizzo is not your typical "pizza parlor" that is certain. If you enjoy pizza from any of the national franchises I wouldn't recommend Apizzo. I am from the New Haven Connecticut area and Apizzo isn't even like our great New Haven Pizza. Apizzo is a step closer to the pizza I've enjoyed in Rome. The crust is much lighter than most yet more flavorful; the sauce is tasty, basically a simple San Marzano tomato sauce but not loaded with dried oregano, basil and garlic salt. The cheese is a fresh Mozz rather than the more chewy, oily version we get even in New Haven. I must say I would probably prefer the chewy-oily version myself if it were an option. They use Reggiano Parmesan cheese when they prepare their pizzas yet serve something of lesser quality at the table for some reason, a mix, I'd guess of romano and parmesan?..uneventful for sure!..... The Beer/Ale selection is great but if you're the typical Bud guy you may have an issue...closest thing to that would be a Red Stripe Beer from, I think Jamaica......40 others to pick from.....All the ingredients they use are top shelf and the freshest...even the clam pizza is made with fresh whole clams, a bit dry but great still......The service is very friendly and very quick once you place your order...sometimes in 5 minutes you're eating......On thursdays they have free live entertainment it can be somewhat loud but I'm old so it could only be me....all and all I love the place..I've spoken to the owner a few times while I perused his beer cooler and he's a great guy too.....I'd recommend he visit with patrons a bit more but I see this place doing really well no matter what he does....5 stars and I consider myself to be a real critical critic if that makes sense.....worth the trip just for the brews..and oh they have great wings too....made in there 850 degree oven I'd presume!! Enough Said..Go there!!!
